There is no denying  that reading sure can be a chore. Before 1990 or in other words ancient history, people didn’t have the internet freely available to give them a video lesson or information by the bucket. In this age books were the obvious choice for the consumption of ideas. Thankfully, we no longer need to go to the library to have access to copious amounts of data.

Students today can check blogs and websites which have lots of information to help them direct their own learning. However, the internet is like an ocean of knowledge and young people still need to learn how to fish. One of the great additions to the modern internet has been websites like SparkNotes, Schmoop and a plethora of others that analyse texts for you. The downside of this is that some students are skipping the text altogether and leaning on these online resources completely.

In this video lesson we assess whether this is a viable strategy and give some tips to students who want to read more but just can’t bring themselves to do it.

With the Area of Study and three modules to rush through in the year, it is understandable that some students feel incredibly overwhelmed when they reach their final year of study. The unfortunate thing about this is that the texts which sometimes are quite brilliant become less of a focus than the syllabus. Many of the authors who you  study have important things to say about their particular time periods and if you are someone who doesn’t like the saying “history repeats itself” it can be worth assessing what these people have to say.
